RSA forum members,
I'm sure many of you who know me have noticed my lengthy absences from the forum. I've been a busy lady, to say the least, and in part my ability to provide the level of attention to the RSA forum and he website has been hindered.
I've decided it's time to pass some of these things on to people with good ideas and good energy to provide towards the forum and the RSA site and its member groups. So, I asked Mr. Albert Roberts (known to most of you as The Doctor) and his lovely lady Miss Waterman to take the reins.
Robert and Maggie are the ideal people to head the RSA. Robert is founder of the Tennesee Regency Society, which is adding another chapter to its group. He's a wonderful reenactment enthusiast with a good background in historical costuming and recreations. He's a talented graphic designer, so everyone can look forward to a new, updated look for the forum and website, and he has great plans for the RSA website and intends to make it a more interactive place for people to go and learn more about regional groups in the USA.
Maggie is also a talented costumer and presenter, and I've called her the 'Poster Girl' for Regency in every way. This team will keep the RSA going and bring it to new places.
I will continue to be involved, but now at more of a pace that suits me. Lately, I've been letting go of control of many of the Oregon Regency Society activities, and trusting other, wonderful people to take the lead to make our group as wonderful as possible. I can now focus more on the details I have always wished to focus on, my own costumes, the blog posting on the ORS page and my personal blog, and the other pursuits that have lost their colour and appeal of late because I have been burning the candle at both ends.
So I ask that you please welcome Robert & Maggie as the new RSA muckity-mucks. I'm excited to see how far this team will take our forum and the RSA as an organization.

Thank you, Stephanie for all your hard work on this forum over the years. It's been a wonderful resource, and a great place to meet like-minded people! I am personally so grateful you decided to create it!
To Robert and Maggie, whose exploits I much enjoy from their blogs and on Facebook, I have no doubt you are the perfect pair to continue what has been started, and guide it as it grows even better!

Thanks so much Stephanie!
We're looking forward to working with everyone and helping the RSA grow in this big year for our hobby. Being the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812, I really think that this should be the perfect year to make people aware of our groups and our favorite era.
So first of all, we're not planning any major modifications to the RSA Forums here. I think it works well and doesn't really need any fixing.
What WILL be changing is the RSA website… but in a GOOD way
The old site, while getting the needed info across, is fairly static and unchanging. So you'd look at it once, and then never really need to look there again. I'd like for the NEW RSA site to be something you want to check periodically thru the week and month. I know I need more websites to kill time looking at throughout the workday
This is where I'll be asking our RSA Chapter heads to step in and assist me with content. Ideally, I'd love to have a monthly update for each of our state groups. These will go directly on the front page of the new RSA site for everyone to see… as well as links to their respective sites etc. It'll be a great way to drive traffic to the RSA site AND the sites of the individual chapters.
My goals for the RSA are:
1.) Raise awareness of the group through creating and maintaining a regularly updated RSA website.
2.) Drive traffic to the RSA Forums to stimulate discussion about all aspects of our favorite time period.
3.) Grow the RSA by encouraging new chapters in parts of the U.S. where there have perviously been no RSA groups.
4.) (This may be a total pipe dream) Encourage more MEN to join and participate in local chapter activities. This is a goal that I may require your help with ladies… but as this is the anniversary of the War of 1812, surely we can lure some dudes in with the promise of guns and uniforms and marching?
The new RSA website will be up very soon, I'll keep you updated.
I'm excited about this awesome new chapter with the RSA, let's have fun with it!
P.S. My name is 'Albert'. Special thanks to my parents who gave me a rhyming sing-song name like 'Albert Roberts'.

As per # 4) I would so very much like to encourage more men to to join us! In our area, the men complain that all we do are tea parties, card parties and dancing (which is not entirely true, but those things are easy to arrange.) I would LOVE to offer more for men to do. Fencing has perked up some interest, but the men want me to find out more about before it they commit to even trying. This is so unlike other living history groups I know where, if people have an interest, they dive in and research what it was like to share with others.
Still, I am searching for the information because I would love to see it happen.
Again, I thank you *Albert* for taking this group on and look forward to seeing what you and Maggie come up with.

Albert has already whipped the old, neglected website into shape, turning it into something lively and beautiful, with a bit of wit to boot. I'm so proud of him! It looks wonderful. Check it out at http://regencysa.org.
Regency group leaders, I recommend you get in touch with Albert at first chance, say hello and see if you can contribute to the new RSA website. He will want to share photos of your regional events and possibly post helpful articles. Also, please check that your website links and such are up to date. If they're not up there, make sure you contact Albert so that he can add them accordingly. If you want to start a group, let him know!
Also, there will definitely be increased traffic with this dynamic new website, which means that you should all strive to update your chapter websites to show you're still going strong.
