I came across this series on YouTube and it does an awesome job of showing the food of the time. I never realized how heavy it was or how much alcohol was consumed! No wonder people felt better going to Bath and actually drinking water for a change! Supersizers Go Regency www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_Coh8laAAkDisclaimer: This episode explores all aspects of Regency life and can be crude at times.

How interesting!! I'll have to sit and watch these slowly as my son keeps yelling about more exciting things happen with Spongebob. Still, I wonder if everyone ate this way. I could imagine some things but honestly if I ate like that now I'd feel awful! I wonder had I lived in that time would I have been a picky eater like I am now. That Cheese on toast with the wine looked quite good though. I may have to try that...after baby arrives

No wonder people felt better going to Bath and actually drinking water for a change! Thanks! That's an interesting show (only half way through, again due to the demands of a small child). However, the water at Bath is laden with sulphur, and allegedly ( I didn't have the courage to try it) tastes awful!

I wonder had I lived in that time would I have been a picky eater like I am now. It is a lot of calories, but if you consider a lack of central heating, and a lot more walking (unless you use a sedan chair too often), you would be burning a lot more than you do sitting in front of the computer in a climate controlled house. I do know when Lady Egg made an enormous raised pie ( goblinrevolution.org/cgi-bin/pic_frame.cgi?pic=meatpie/meatpie.1.jpg;list=indicies/pieparty.index;base=events) it was very tasty; but after the third day of having it for lunch, I would have killed for a green salad!
