My son has recently begun to climb everywhere, and consequently he has also begun to take some alarming tumbles when my back is momentarily turned. Today I suddenly remembered reading about something called a pudding cap years ago, and after doing a bit of poking around I found this neat example from the V&A: tinyurl.com/28lny8oHas anyone made one before? I have lots of scrap fabric and plenty of cotton batting and raw wool around my workroom. It looks like it would be pretty easy to put together without a pattern, too, but are there any out there? I think I'd have to experiment with ties in order to come up with a method that he couldn't take off -- toddlers are terribly clever at getting out of things!

I haven't made one but I do have a baby who could use one. I am planning on making something similar out of think leather for my adult cousin cause she's prone to Concussions and is in battle training (acting class).
Hers probably won't have ribbon ties at the top though LOL

I found a pattern for a pudding cap! Of course, I found it as soon as my son outgrew the need for it, but I hope it will be useful for you: www.neheleniapatterns.com/english/englishsite.htmlIt's in the rococo section near the bottom with the children's patterns. I'd love to see it made up!
