I know that we have had conversations on this in the past, but progress has finally been made. There are a group of us who attend reenactments, who have had a goal to represent the civilian side of the war. What it might have been like to live in the community next to the battle, or even just some aspects of daily life. We are calling ourselves Citizens in the Midst of Alarums (CITMA). After much planning, figuring and organizing, we are ready for the coming season. We have developed a web site that should be up by the end of next week. www.citma1812.comCurrently we are based in Ontario, but not limited to that. We are opening our arms to the reenacting community in general. Dear All Seeing, Would it be possible to be added amongst the regency groups? What do you need from us to do so?

Miss Mardi, the link doesn't work and I'd dearly like to be able to follow your groups' activities.

Missmardi that is very exciting! Where in Ontario are you based? I've been scouring the internet looking for something like this in the Toronto area and have yet to find it.

We are currently based in the Kingston-Ottawa region, but don't let that deter you. Many of us are planning to attend Stoney Creek June 4 and 5 his year. It would be wonderful if you were able to come see us. You will find that most reenactors are not afraid to do a bit of traveling for an event.

I’ll be at Stoney Creek. Come find me at The Elegant Thimble or at the lady’s tea.

Kingston-Ottawa is not that far and I would definitely be willing to travel! Unfortunately June 4th/5th is already booked for me, but I will keep my eyes attentive for other upcoming events!

Miss Mardi, is your civilian group on line yet? I've checked the link and still get nothing. Will we see you next weekend at Stoney Creek?

Dawn, Sadly we have been having difficulty getting the website up and running. We are sadly lacking images. We are awaiting permission to post the images we have chosen, but that has been a much slower process than anticipated. It has been a daily effort to find appropriate pictures. Up until now, the majority of our pictures have included military personnel, and we are trying to stay away from that aspect. I will let you know as soon as it is online. There will be a group of us attending this weekend though. I look forward to meeting you.

I'm sorry the website has been difficult. I've been looking forward to seeing it. Check out the schedule for Stoney Creek. Betsy Bayshore is presenting a fashion show on Saturday - her presentations are wonderful! And then I'm presenting at 2:00 "Dressing Classy" where we'll talk about class structure and what civilians wore.. I'm looking forward to meeting you!

Just a quick report (no photos- sorry) about last weekend at Stoney Creek. We had a most enjoyable weekend. For the most part the weather co-operated. We had some wild rain and thunder Saturday morning but by early afternoon the sun came out again. Sunday was glorious. It was a treat to meet MissMardi and her husband and her son (in passing He’s a busy little boy!) They are positively delightful people! It was such a pleasure to finally meet face to face. The civilian group is going to be a wonderful addition to the re-enactment scene.

It was fabulous to meet you too, Dawn. We really enjoyed being able to talk with you and learn more.
My husband has now added to my sewing list, as he is now coveting the banyans that were being worn by Charlene's husband. (any advice as to finding a pattern would be great!) I have also decided that a new shift is in order. Further assessment, and I think that the fact that the shift was thrown together hurriedly, is part of why I am not yet satisfied with the fit of my stays.

I agree with the Doctor. While I am a military man, I am so glad that there is a group such as this to portray the civilian facet of the period and the war. I will of course peruse your website from time to time. Your group has my appreciation.
