Greetings all,
Cookery, what a fantastic subject. I fancy myself an amateur chef. When I visited Old Sturbridge Village in Massachusetts, I was in their gift shop and saw they had a cook book. Without looking through it, as I was already in line, I purchased it. It is interesting, to say the least. Gives wonderful examples of Colonial/Federalist cookery from New England. Some dishes are common place (such as Baked Beans) while other more fanciful. The part that I like the best is that it gives two recipes for each; one for the regular oven and one for hearth cooking. I will post more about this when I get around to actually trying something from it.

So are you going to try hearth cooking? What does that mean? In a pot, hanging by a hook over an open fire?
