Was seriously hoping for a response as this seems to be the "it" place for things Regency. WOW!

The south seems to be almost solely devoted to the Civil War. I would be surprised, but delighted, to find a Regency group in the southern states. However, if you go north there is the Regency Society of Tennessee and the Georgia Regency Society.

Sorry for the delay in a reply, lyric. Lots of busy folks on this board (especially during the summer when folks are hither, thither and yon!) so sometimes it's not as active as at other times.
Is there a particular part of "The South" you're interested in? Regency and War of 1812 events do exist but it is helpful to have a general idea of the vicinity you'd be willing to travel to. I imagine that there will be some sort of event commemorating the Battle of New Orleans and "Jane Austen" balls and events at historic houses of the era also occur. In the upper South, there are also the Regency Society of Virginia and the Regency Assembly of North Carolina in addition to the groups Lady Sarah mentioned.

Like Lady Sarah said, group wise there are 2 society's here in the "South" (or what I consider to be the South). One in GA and one in TN. (http://regencysa.blogspot.com/p/members.html)
I am just tossing the idea around of starting a FL group, but we shall see.
Event wise it varies state by state, for instance here in FL there are a few places that do Regency Events and/or Pre-1840 Events once a year.
Hope that's somewhat helpful. :-)

Lyric, may I be so bold as the ask what state you reside in? I am in Florida as I said above, and there are hardly any events here, I've only found one that might be suitable.
Not to hijack your thread but are their any other Floridians active among the members here?

As it happens I just joined minutes ago, and have the same question since I'm a resident of Florida as well!

I am seriously considering starting a regency society in SC! There are a few dance groups in NC but as someone else said mostly everyone here in the South is into the Civil War era. I used to live in TN and could kick myself for not knowing about all this sooner (their chapter looks amazing!)

I know it's late to respond, but I just joined these boards.
I'm in the South as well and was wondering if you ever started your group for South Carolina? That would be wonderful!

I haven't started one Susan, it turns out I will probably be moving back to Nashville in a few months. I hope someone will start one in SC eventually!
