Hello everyone! My name is Julia and I am an undergrad in the Boston area. My introduction to Jane Austen was the 2005 version of Pride & Prejudice, and I loved it enough to look into other film versions as well as her books. I've read several Jane Austen and Georgette Heyer books as well as some modern Regency romances, and so far have loved them all. This year I've been attending some local Regency-themed dances and events. This is something I very much would like to continue doing, and I've decided it's high time I make myself I proper dress. I've been wearing a very simple, very inaccurate, vaguely Regency dress I found cheap on ebay. My sewing goals for this summer are to make Regency underthings (I'm quite worried about the stays) and a simple but nice gown that I can wear to balls. We'll see how it goes, hopefully without too many problems!
I've been lurking around this forum for a few months now so I figured it was high time to actually join! I love all the information I've found here, and I hope it can help me on my way to becoming more involved in Regency things.

Hello, how do you do? My name is Ebony Da'na and I am fairly new here as well. I am new to this whole world! I was definitely surprised to see how many people love Jane Austen and the Regency Era as well. I'm not great at sewing but luckily my mother is an excellent seamstress who has agreed to make me a few dresses so I'm super excited! Are you planning to have a persona for events? I'm thinking of making one but you definitely have to do a lot of research to be accurate for the times.

Hi Julia! Don't be too daunted by stays - everybody rails about how "corsets" are so hard to make, but you picked possibly the EASIEST era possible for stays. Good luck with your costume! -Abigail
