I liked this version and thought Marianne was just right. Unfortunately, my husband told TIVO to override my programming to tape another movie Sunday night (without realizing the what he was taping over), so alas, no conclusion for me! Since the DVD's are available for purchase, I assume they will not be replaying Masterpiece anytime soon.

Thanks Val! I'll start to look. I don't think we have a Costco here, but I'll check in like stores.

I finally got to watch this today and I have to say that I really really liked it. I haven't read everyone else's comments yet though. I thought all of the actors were very well chosen. I thought Elinor seemed a bit oldish though. I thought Marianne was sweet. I thought Edward was dreamy. I thought Mrs. John Dashwood was perfectly horrible. I really liked almost everything about it except the duel. Which I thought seemed wrong. The costumes were nice though there were an awful lot of sleeveless dresses to be polite society. That, and it seemed like everyone used the same pattern for their dresses.

I liked it very much overall. It had its flaws, but frankly they *all* do. I think of all the new adaptations, it's the best one.
