I have read countless Regency novels from authors of that time and the present, but I have never been clear about this issue: If a gently bred young lady, age 19, comes from a family too poor to hold a coming out party or have her presented at Court, and her only remaining family refuses to do so, would she still be able to attend the events held during the Season? Can she go to small, private dinners, the opera, balls, country house parties, etc? If a titled young man asks her, I'm assuming she could go.
