My Dear Cosmo,
I do hope that if I am able to make an ORS Ball sometime that you will make the effort to attend as well. Since you were one of the first here to welcome me to this wonderful society, I would very much like to meet you with all the others in person should that day come to fruition.

Why Major, Of course I am planning on attending any of the ORS Balls/Events that I can manage, and if I hear that you will be in attendance I will put forth extra effort to make an appearance.

Major, that venue i secretly told you about may not work for this year. I'm searching for another space, as soon as we have it and the date; you will be among the first to know.

In the Los Angeles area there is also the Jane Austen evening put on by the Lively Arts Historical Association (unless the Jane Austen evening has been spun off as its own organization). Lady Egg and I attended twice, before Master Teo's presence made multiple trips to Southern California more difficult, otherwise we would go every year. The event consisted of a tea with some form of entertainment, a dinner (though you can bring your own; we coordinated with some local friends and had a very nice spread), followed by dancing. www.lahacal.org/austen/

Hi Cosmo, I used to go to Miss Haseltine's when I was still living in Los Angeles...it's held in my hometown! It's low-key and friendly, and held in the rec room of a small park. Most people are not in costume, but costumes are welcomed and very much admired. I think there is usually live music and light refreshments are served. As usual, "too many ladies" so you'll probably dance the man's part at least once in the evening I second Goblin's recommendation of the Jane Austen evening, but would advise buying your tickets as early as you can as the event has been selling out recently.
