Here are some pictures from what I believe is a New Year's event from last year, in France. I don't know the name of the group(s) involved, or anything else about them, but the costumes , as well as the hall, are gorgeous! picasaweb.google.co.uk/Empire.Napoleonien

Wow, Cosmo! You need to see these, there are costumes aplenty! The venues are so beautiful. Were we overseas, we'd never be lack for gorgeous spaces that look the period. :::sigh:::
The men's costumes are particularly impressive. WOW. Thanks for sharing that, Goblin!

Those are definitely impressive. I wonder how many of them made their own gowns? They should all be posting here and telling me how they did it.

Speaking of European venues, the ultimate Regency event is probably the Jane Austen Festival, held every year (usually in September) in Bath. Including a ball in the Assembly Rooms. Some day, we're going.... www.janeausten.co.uk/festival/index.ihtml

I heard it's getting increasingly expensive yearly. I too would love to attend, I just hate being financially gouged.

I’m not sure that first group of photos was in France. I recognise some of the people in the photos, and I believe this was a private, invitation only 3-day party, hosted in a castle (possibly in Germany? Or Italy? I’ve forgotten). Anyway, Christina Dettmers and her sister and sis’s husband are in the pictures. Christina is the charming proprietress of Nehelenia Historical Clothing, which you have linked on another thread. The Jane Austen Festival does look fun, doesn’t it? Bath is positively gorgeous. It would make such a wonderful holiday to visit during the festival and attend the events. Imagine packing the wardrobe! Don’t take British airways if you go! They’ve got too many luggage restrictions. You’d never be able to take it all with you. )

The one year we were in Bath, we only discovered the Jane Austen Festival then, and discovered that it started a week after we returned home. Very sad.
Thank you for the additional information on the pictures. It would be nice to know more about the people/organizations, although I'd feel such a piker next to them....
