Awhile back we were talking about using saris for ballgowns, and I came across this lovely one today. Front tinyurl.com/5g7ko5 Back tinyurl.com/5lux7e I still have my sari silk tafetta I'm saving for a gown, and this would work very nicely for it.

Lisa, a organizer from the Eugene branch made her gown from a sari; and she described it to me, but i had no idea how gorgeous it was until I saw the picture. I think she looks beautiful.

Actually, it looks like the front is separate from the buttoned band and just tucks in.
These are from VintageTextile.com originally, but the garment was sold and the images removed so I took them from my files. Just thought I'd give proper credit.
edit--Jeez, I keep forgetting to include stuff. The spencer is made from green trupunto'd silk from a petticoat from the 1700's. Waste not!
