I do notice that the Jane Austen Centre does tend to quote verbatim from Wikipedia, spelling mistakes and all, so treat their articles as you would treat Wikipedia.

For those further interested in the Uniforms of the British Army, I would highly reccommend "The Thin Red Line" by D.S.V & B.K. Fosten.
In addition to "Dress to Kill" put out by the NMM, Osprey's "Nelson's Navy" has a very concise detailing of the various states of the British Naval Uniform from 1748 to 1815+. In fact, their last illustrated plate on pg. 44 very clearly shows the distinction between the old guard and the new, with the Admiral dressed in the frock with his hat "athwartship", while the captain is wearing the more fashionable double breasted tail coat with his hat fore and aft.
Your Obd't Servant, Joseph Harney Captain Sir Thomas Cappel HMS Phoebe
