On the little girl'd dress; I love the completely flat front; no gathered bodice, but lots of gathering in the back.

How old would boys be who wore that suit?

How old would boys be who wore that suit? It's called a Skeleton Suit, and it was one of the earliest types of clothing specifically for children. A boy would probably wear one after he had been breeched, which might be as early as two or three, or as late as seven or eight. Apparently the timing varied a lot. The wikipedia article, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breeched, has some good references.

I can't wait until Teo is old enough to be put in a skeleton suit. :-) If I have a son in the future I think it would be fun to put him in one and take lots of pictures. How do you like the pattern there? Does it look easy to work with?

I am going to have to try the gown pattern for Kuku, but I think that I will add some tucks to the bottom for growth. She is getting so tall already time to switch her to a 24 months size at almost 19 months. She is not quite tall enough for 2T.

The dress is cute but I first totally thought that baby was in a coffin and thought that was a weird thing to show people. You know, I never looked at it like that.... but now that you mention it, it does have that appearance doesn't it? The silken background, and the saying I put on there thinking it was an ode to her innocence... Holy guacamole. That's morbid.

The 1830's really have a lot to answer for, in fashion at least.
