I looked at JP Ryan, and all they have is the really complicated Georgian corset. I think I can take my Sense & Sensibility stay and mimick that stay pretty closely. Besides, I've ordered a lot of patterns and got a new machine and I need to behave or my hsuband's head will explode. He's already grumpy about my new machine being ensconced on the dining room table. Sarha, The S&S stay is really very simple. I decided to do it as my first project, and I did it in a very short timespan, within a day, I know that (although I cheated and bought bias instead of cutting and ironing the one on the pattern).

I am maching sewing everything too. I loathe hand sewing and I'm not very good at it anyway. So my projects will have a little bit of a modern edge. I'm still satisfied w/how everthing is turning out. I hope you make your deadline and everything looks great! I have no regrets about being a chronic machine-sewer. I hate hand-sewing, and I think it doesn't take away from the costume that much if you machine sew... most of the seams are invisible anyway. What people don't know won't hurt them. ;D

I agree w/you 100%! I too am guilty of taking over the dining room (a little of the living room too!).
Thank you for the review of the stay. That eases my mind!

Will you post pics of what you have finished already? Steph - I understand about not wanting to make the hubby freak out. I am already nervous about the cost of my fabric and ordering boning and everything, especially since I don't really work and haven't had any freelance in a couple of months. The two of you are both planning pantaloons and drawers, but neither of you posted on my drawers thread. Hmmm.

LOL... you are indeed. She had me whip out my corset/stay at the Portland Public Library so she could look at it (I *had* taken it off though and was in my modern street-clothes by then, but still!) LAWLZ...

True I did that, but I wouldn't have had to do that if you had just shown me a picture of it (hint, pictutes, hint, hint, progress photos )

I have to borrow my work camera, and that doesn't always work. I will try though.

Wow, I am going to assume that you mean digital and that at least have a 35mm. Anyway I have a camera that I can loan you while you are working on your Feb projects. I'll do anything to get more pictures.

I took pictures of my corset on my duct-tape dressform, and some pictures of the thick brocade I'm going to use for my new stay. I may cut the pieces tonight, so if I do, I'll take pictures too and upload them tomorrow at work.

Reminder to myself on the RSA Forum because I look here so much: I need from the store: Grommets, buttons (for my white dress), lacing and boning tips.

Yay Pictures! Post 'em! Post 'em! Reminder to myself on the RSA Forum because I look here so much: I need from the store: Grommets, buttons (for my white dress), lacing and boning tips. What store do you get boning tips from? what kind of boning are you using?

I use steel boning right off the roll. It has a stiff fabric gap where you can sew right down the center. I usually get that at Fabric Depot 'cause it's sort of on my way home. I need steel, because my girls are so heavy, they'll bend plastic and wire.

Main entrance (facing 122nd) almost directly to the left as you come in. The counter with all the weddingy appliqués and all such things. There's a big roll on the floor of the steel boning, and they have that featherweight plastic stuff in rolls behind that same counter. The lady at the cutting table on that same wall will cut you your yardage from the roll. They are continually out of the right tips and lacing though, so you need to make sure they have what you need.

I just started scaling my patterns up. I am seriously thinking that I am not going to make my deadline. Argh it is already the 3rd. Toddlers make things take much longer than they should.
