I wasn't sure where to post this, but I thought I would put it here. I was watching the most wonderful documentary ever, aka the History of Britain, last night. It was the episode on the English Regency and the changing attitude towards children. Anyway, they said this is the era when women where encouraged to breast feed their children. Previously, a wet nurse was called in. They also altered their clothing accordingly. They showed some old womens' journals that had drop-front gowns and gowns with slits in the bodice for nursing. I just thought it was interesting.

Which channel was that on. I am really curious about the slits in the gowns.

I've always wondered about those drop front gowns. Kind of make me think of nursing dresses.
