I made a ball gown about a year ago, and am currently working on a day dress that is turning out simply splendidly when I finish I will post pictures of it also. So here are the pictures of my not so historically accurate ball gown: (and I am the model. >,< LOL) www.geocities.com/slycat81/shrankreggown3.JPGwww.geocities.com/slycat81/shrankreggown2.JPGI need to redo the back of the gown this was the first try for myself and I didn't realize that I needed to do darts instead of a gathered back, just another thing to do on my list. LOL oh lol and fix my sleeves too. lol! Thanks for looking! ~Lady Elizabeth

I really like the fit of the gown it looks great, but I must ask did you use period underpinnings underneath to achieve that fit or what?
Overall very nicely done, especially if this was a first try. I cannot wait to see your day dress, BTW what patterns are you using?

LOL! I actually did not use period correct pinnings, just my normal bra and a drawstring around the the bodice. It was my first try for myself, I have made this pattern before for my neighbor and best friend. I used Sense and Sensibility's Regency Gown Pattern Supplement for the bodice because I am a little more endowed in the chest than the Simplicity pattern, and the Simplicity Regency Pattern for the Skirt.
I am currently working on a boned bodice petticoat which I will wear under my new day dress which I am going to finish soon. The Day dress I am using is a modified version of The S and S pattern. I love all of Mrs Chansey's Patterns so yeah. lol Its actually going to be a buttoned down front gown.
Feel free to ask any questions you want, I have been sewing for about 15 years, and have been making costumes for about ten. ~Lady Elizabeth
