Thanks!! That makes sense and makes me feel better at the same time I will share photos when they are done, I've taken a couple pics during the process so far. There wasn't a specific gauge pf wire in the instructions and the store I went to didn't have millinery wire but I think what I got will work...I hope!

How do you all tip the ends of your wire? I don't want the wire to dig into my mothers head

Well, I’ve kind of noticed that you weren’t able to use bonnet/hat-making wire. It’s kind of special. It doesn’t bend super easily and it’s got “spring” to bounce into the basic shape. Don’t misunderstand – it does bend –but it seems to have memory. It also is fabric covered. That helps. So – I don’t actually “tip” the hatmaking wire. I run a section of it side by side for two inches and I sew it together at the space where I want the join. There is no actual “end” when you do this. I wrap the wire at the two inch area with thread and I stitch it all the way where the two ends run parallel. A blanket or button hole stitch works nicely. If you’re using a different type of wire, maybe – and I’m just throwing out ideas here – you could wrap the sections with a fabric tape of some sort – medical tape? And then sew as I’ve described. Maybe that would work???

yeah that's a good idea, it's what I as thinking of doing...Maybe I'll just look around for actual milliner's wire though it sounds like it's easier to work with Joann's didn't have it, I wonder if Hancocks will not sure of any other stores in my area that might sell it. I need to get these made in time to send to my mom for her birthday so I can't wait a week for shipping...Thanks for the idea
