I would like to copy this gown. Has anyone here seen something similar in any portraits, drawings or collections? I have made the brown silk underdress already.

That's gorgeous. I'd give marquise.de a shot. She's got a pretty good collection of portraits. There's also a search option, which turns up a lot more than is displayed on the 'site.

good grief, that's attractive! wish i could help, but I can only admire :-)
although, with your skills I'd think you might be able to compile something with just this picture alone?

I know this is probably too late but I just bumped into this thread again and the picture reminded me of Empress Josephine's coronation robe. A google search revealed that it's not quite the same but French court dress of that period seems to have included a separate train and there are a few variations in how much of the fabric for the train shows at the front (see the images on this page www.costumes.org/history/100pages/NAPOLEON.HTM) the closest to the cut you've got is The Empress Maria Lousia in Court Dress I suspect a bit of research into court dress during Napoleon's reign would be the best place to start
