Patterns tend to daunt me, and opening these, I was so daunted, I kept putting it aside as I tackled project after project for my husband's ball costume while avoiding the breeches until last. It turns out they were very simple. I also had to alter them a bit to fit my husband, and I found altering the pattern was really very simple too. Instructions: A Pattern quailty: A+ (very nicely drafted, professional looking). Adaptability: A All around score: A It took me less than 5 hours to throw them together; I am going to remake them in black and throw away the old pair (the corduroy is tearing on the seam). They make my hubby's bum look pouffy, but they all tend to; and I'm going to really make them narrow on the knee with pretty buttons. I like this pattern, and recommend it. Apparently, you can make it in leather with the full leg as well if you're 'a prospectin'.

I have this pattern. You're right, it's simple to make. To help with the bum, you'll see how on the pattern the back side curves out (convex) from the crotch and back in to the waist. Straighten that to take most of the excess away. Depending on your husband's build, you can start to curve it inward (concave) for an even more tailored look, that's how I make mine with a little inward curve. But you'll want to experiment with it a bit.

I have to second that. My review on the GBACG ( gbacg.org/) Great Pattern Review was: Highly Recommended Easy to put together and fits well, although I found the legs a bit baggy for formal wear. Note: this pattern has no pockets. I've used this pattern (with various modifications) at least five times.
