The full title is Nelson's Navy: The Ships, Men, and Organisation, 1793-1815. If you want reference works on the Royal Navy in the age of sail, it's hard to go wrong with Brian Lavery. This was the primary reference work used during the filming of Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, and is an amazing book for understanding what life was like in the Royal Navy during the Napoleonic Wars. It has chapters on Naval Administration (which any officer would have to contend with during his career), types of ships, their fittings and armaments, commissioned officers, seamen and landsmen, marines, ship handling, shipboard life, dockyards and bases, etc., etc. This book would be my recommendation if someone wanted one volume to help them understand life in the Royal Navy, or to improve a Royal Navy impression. It is even on Google Books: books.google.com/books?id=uH--DfZKzE4C
