Hi All, I have good news and bad news. The good news is the photographer just dropped off the CDs from the Ball a few minutes ago and I received another CD in the mail today from an attendee from back in Ohio. I'm waiting for photos from one other person, he's having trouble getting them sent to me so I'm not going to wait on him. Now the bad news: It's time for me to retire for this evening and I'm going out-of-town tomorrow right after work to a living history weekend event and won't be able to even look at the pictures until I get back next week. (Well, maybe I'll look at a few ) But I will do my best to sort through them and attempt to get a flicker or photo bucket or whatever those are and get them posted to share with you all sometime next week. I can't believe it's taken this long, just a little frustrating, but it must be said that dealing with reenactors is like herding cats. And yes, once in a while you get scratched

Major, you are an impossible tease and I believe you may be required to send all of us a box of chocolates just to make up for the hanging on tenter hooks we've had to endure. Sniff.

Hi All, Here's the latest update on pictures. I got the last of the CDs (I believe) this past weekend. I simply have not had time to sift through them. I am hoping to do so this weekend, but with Mother's Day and a term paper I need to get started on, it's hard to say how much I'll get done on it. Then I have to figure out Flickr. It shouldn't be long now.

Dear Major,
I simply cannot take the wait any longer! Envisioning the lovely ladies in their gowns, the dashing gentlemen, and the splendor of the event itself is eating at me! I do hope your term paper goes swiftly and well and that Flickr does not prove to be as quite a problematic website as it did for me. Until then I shall be patiently awaiting a glimpse of these long talked about photos.

Drum roll please!!! The time has come. Instead of working on my term paper, I worked on photos and I think I figured out flickr. Please let me know if you can't get to the photos. Anyway, here they are. Enjoy!

It looks like such a wonderful time. Was there more than one Major in attendance or was that your gracious self?

The Major cuts a very handsome figure in his dashing uniform, does he not? The lighting is so lovely; the venue was perfect, and the ladies looked so pretty.
but I have to say my hands-down favourite images are the ones with the little boy gentleman in the green frock coat and the broadfall breeches and gloves and the little girl with the pearls wound through her hair and the velvet spencer.
O.... M.... G....
Why can't I have one of those to torture with costumes? Why oh why???

Good Morning, Ladies,
To answer a couple of your questions. Yes, I am in several of the pictures. A couple of which are labeled as such, although one is kind of dark and others are grainy, but it's the best I've had to work with for a first pass through. I will continue to work on a compilation and see if I can come up with something better, but probably not until after the semester is over.
I was the highest ranking officer there and the only Major. So I removed one epaulette as a show of respect for the others in attendance. This was, after all, a Regimental Ball.
It really brought back a lot of fond memories as I sorted through the pictures and got them in a semblance of order. Which is why I delayed my term paper to do it, I just simply had fun with it. Now my quota is used up on Flickr for the month, and with my schedule I won't be able to do much more until next month anyway.

Dear Major, the photos are wonderful!
The ball looks positively splendid.
Your recreated Stand of Colours you had to present is beyond fabulous! No wonder they all were excited about that!!! Very, very impressive indeed!
Congratulations on hosting a most successful looking regimental ball!
And thank you so much for taking the time to share the photos with us.

Thank you all, you are very kind. The photographer did not spend much time on a few things I had hoped/asked for. But it didn't help when I had to step out for a few minutes and one of my Sergeants allowed the band to setup in a different spot, which happened to be the spot for the photographer to take posed portrait type photos. That's why there aren't more pictures of uniforms, suits, and gowns. Come to think of it, beside the band there was only one man there that wasn't in the Regiment and not in uniform, but he had the courtesy to rent and wear a tuxedo.

Very nice Major! Nice group of costumes, and it looked like a lot of fun. I noticed the decorations on the light fixtures (greenery, streamers & candles) and thought those looked very elegant.

Oh, well done, Major!
It looks like you had a wonderful ball. I, too, particularly liked the children (I must make Teo a skeleton suit as soon as he is old enough), the colours look incredible, and the pictures of the dancing take from the loft(?) give a great impression of the hall as well as the dancers.
I wish we could have that level of reenactment at the events we hold here in California.
