This turned out to be one of our best-attended events yet; and we all had a roaring good time. Pictures will be posted soon. Cosmo's gown turned out so lovely, she received compliment after compliment about it.
Wonderful!!

It was such a great time! I am so glad that I went even though my dress was only 3/4 completed. I ate, I danced, I laughed. I only wished I had gotten to learn whist.

It was by far one of the best events we have hosted so far. Attendance was excellent, and *everyone* had a really good time. The caller was a bit advanced and he did very difficult dances to start with, but we will be sure the next party has less complicated dances to get people used to the concept of casting, setting, etc... Difficult dances aside, just the fact that people were messing up and laughing made it even more fun. Otherwise, it was WONDERFUL, Cosmo's gown was a hit, and people kept asking and asking where she got it, what pattern she used, etc. We laughed and ate and chatted, and I didn't get to learn whist either, darn-it. It was a GREAT group. All around A+ (no bias here being an organizer) for the event; I am going on feedback though.

Wonderful! And will there be photos for us poor souls who live hundreds and hundreds of miles away?

Of course. My husband filled our camera and tons of members brought their own cameras, so I will have them up on the events page (at least mine) by Monday night. I'm going to ask the members for copies of theirs too.

Here's a link to the Flickr set I made up for the event. Right now there are only 7 images in it that were taken by Cosmo. Keep checking in the next few days, I will be adding photos as they come in. tinyurl.com/2s23nh

The pictures (and the people in them, and their costumes) look wonderful!
(Though I see you are dancing on carpet; I thought the pictures form the previous event had a hardwood floor. Did you use a different space?)

Yes, we've had different venues for each event. My favourite is the Ainsworth House, it was a nice place with tile floors. The wood floor was the Masonic Temple in Astoria (a gorgeous building) and this last venue is brand-new construction; very modern; hard to suspend your disbelief, I confess, but it was affordable and that is always a priority when nothing else is to be had.
There were no incidents of shockage due to carpet-dancing, thankfully (or that I'm aware of anyway).

That was so fun to watch. It makes me wonder if I can actually do that...
Cosmo, your dress looked lovely!

Arrgh, how embarrassing ECD made me feel so uncoordinated and I certainly looked.

Nonsense; you did not look awkward. The dancing was difficult and for your first time, you were astonishinly graceful. Trust me, you did very well. It was almost everyone's first time doing ECD; and you still managed to make it look cohesive.
