I have fallen down so much walking to and from campus in all of this snow ice. Accursed finals, that they did not just shut down campus completely! I hope everyone else has been able to stay in and out of the weather.

I, the 'never-lets-snow-stop-her-girl' have been housebound up here in Welches.

I hope you have enough food etc? It's so pretty, but it's so difficult.

LOL... it was only for a day or so. We just avoided driving on the most part. It's not that I don't trust my own abilities in the snow, it's mostly because I don't trust other NW drivers in the snow... they're plain terrible at it. I've seen people with chains and 4WD go careening off the road in a blind panic--you have to be a really bad, panicky driver to do that. I'm from New England, to me, this isn't really that much snow... it's enough for me to know when it's prudent to stay home and sip tea and when it's okay to venture out.
It's melting now, and it's really thick and heavy and slushy, which is awful. The river is really loud, and it's turbid and has swollen up quite a bit from all the extra moisture.
Roads are fine though, and the valley and Portland is completely fine now. The snow is still high where I am, but it's melting fast.

I totally agree about the NW drivers - and the ability of the city of portland to handle snow cleanup effectively, but who can blame them, they don't usually have to deal with it - the most snow in recorded history of Portland? Or so the weatherman says

I hear it even snowed again a few days ago. I've been in California since before the snow melted, and I'm a little sad to miss the beauty but not at all sad to miss the puddles and slush.
