now that I have two (woohoo!) bonnets, two (woohoo again) gowns and underpinnings, I have just realized I really don't have a spare closet.
Do you store your Regency wear - especially bonnets (no plastic head)? or leave them on display? How do you store your gowns/costumes? Where do you store them? Any neat ideas for small spaces? I need some ideas feel free to post pictures, too Thanks again for humoring me!

I live in a very small house, as you may already know, and I have a tiny space in my entryway closet assigned for costume storage. I bought one of those zip-up hanger-bags that you can hang five or six things in, and stuffed it with ten (plus my wedding gown). I have to iron quite frequently.
As for bonnets, I have some high shelves in the guest/craft/my sister's personal storage room, and I have Miss Foamhead happily stored there along with the feathers, hats, and other paraphernalia, which oddly makes for a lovely display.

I'm kind of lucky in that I have an entire room (a small bedroom) devoted to my sewing/computer/tv. My closet runs the full length of one wall. My neighbor converted one side of it to shelves, which my fabrics are stacked on, along with lots of nicknacks (ie, hiding things). So the other half is hanging space for costumes, with two shelves above it. The shelves hold some overflow of fabric, and wigs. I could probably use the entire length of my closet for hanging so they're usually pretty crammed in there. Some of my costumes are hanging in storage bags to prevent dust if they're not worn for a long period of time. I used to have them all hanging on a long hanger on the back of my door but in time I could hardly keep the door open. Now I have a hanging shoebag on it, that holds my costumeaccessories- flat shoes, gloves, and stockings. I have a computer cabinet, and all my hat boxes are stacked on top of it. Our local Ross store is my favorite place to find hatboxes. Under my 6' sewing table are plastic boxes holding my patterns, lining fabrics, underpinings, and laces/ribbons. You can always use Space Bags to store costumes for any length of time too. I can't post a photo here but here's a link to my closet photo and you can see a little of my gowns hanging on the right side. www.pbase.com/cinnamonhrts/image/91490784

Thanks for your kind and informative replies - I think I will get a couple of those wide dress bags - thats a great idea. Now maybe I should get a foamhead.
Val I was going to ask you to post a pic of your fabric room, but you beat me to it! I love seeing peoples crafty spaces. Steph - feel free to snap and post! I'd like to see your lovely display of bonnets!

Steph - feel free to snap and post! I'd like to see your lovely display of bonnets! Hah! My spare bedroom is chockablock with my sister's things that she left behind PLUS Hubby returned on 2/20 and five HUGE totes of supplies followed him via UPS. The room is small and therefore inaccessible. It looks like one of the rooms from Clean Sweep... I half expect Niecy Nash to come in and cluck her tongue at me for this room. Wedged behind everything is my craft-table, and all my bins. What I had out before the stuff clutterd up the room is now stuck out, and I have no room to do anything that requires more than a square foot of table-space. So until Sister clears out my room, and Dan takes all his totes and junk out of there, no pictures will be taken, it will be far too embarassing. And I have no finished bonnets right now anyway. BUT I will take pics when I get that room back together.
