Here is my first attempt at a Regency dress. I hope to get a photo of me IN the dress soon. At the very least, our local Jane Austen Society is having a tea in May, and I should get photos of myself and others there. Not much detail here to go by, I know, but I'm open to comments and suggestions for improvement. With kind regards, ~Barbara Attachments:

Thanks! I'm hoping it's appropriate. I'm not normally a "pink" kind of person, but the dusty rose kind of appealed to me. I've looked at dozens of portraits, fashion cards, and the like to get a feel for the right look. I've got some other fabric waiting to be used that is white with small brown and light blue leaves block printed on it. I just wasn't ready to wear white yet! ;-) I'm usually a dark color type of person.
Kindly, ~Barbara

It's funny, I was not a pink sort of person either... before I started Regency costuming. I found myself buying a rose fabric for a modern shirt the other day.

It's very nice, I really like the 3/4 length sleeves. Did you draft the pattern yourself or did you use a commercial pattern?

I used the Sense and Sensibility pattern for my first attempt. I did modify it a bit though. Nothing major; I lengthened the sleeves, and enlarged the armscyes. Changed the bodice lining too.

So pretty! I love the way it came out, and I hope we'll get to see you in it soon.

Here at last is a photo of me wearing the dress and bonnet. We had a nice Mother and Daughter tea Saturday before Mother's Day. This was taken before I left home. Only two other ladies chose to wear period garments but, unfortunately, I didn't remember my camera. :-( Attachments:

Indeed love the colour, you should wear it more often. (:
