I don't know if this is appropriate since it's not a question specifically about character development, but it does pertain to characters in a regency fantasy story I am trying to develop.
I am not sure what exact year (or few years) to set my story in, and this matters because I hope to do illustrations as well, and I want the characters' clothing and accessories to be as historically accurate as possible. I know changes in the specific details of the fashions were somewhat gradual, and I only have a general idea of what the dresses looked like in certain years (for example the differences between the dresses in 1800 and the dresses in 1820). I need to narrow it down more. I am becoming better at recognizing key details that pinpoint certain years, but I would greatly appreciate any advice in this area. I am thinking of setting the story between 1812 and 1815, so I would love to see examples of how fashion changed between these years.

Oh wow! This is really helpful. I have not seen a website with such good quality fashion plates yet. Usually they're really tiny, or have no dates. I like the fashions best between 1810-1813 now. They got very elaborate and frilly in the later years and I'm not sure I want to draw that! Thanks for showing me this.
