Esteemed Members, I humbly present my credentials (such as they are) as a new member of this fine forum. As the subject line indicates, I hail from the Old Dominion (and as the quip beneath my avatar implies, I am a shameless admirer of the Royal Navy of the era). A history buff of the first order, the Regency era is a more recent area of interest for me--my curiosity of the time being first piqued by one Horatio Hornblower a little over a decade ago. I am now in the process of getting "a kit" together so that my family and I might participate with a War of 1812 reenacting group in my region. A daunting task as my skill with the needle is not advanced by any means! I have also managed to get myself involved in the organizing committee for a local Regency ball (tentatively scheduled for January 7, 2012) which was held for the first time last year. I very much look forward to gaining from the collected wisdom of the participants here--particularly as regards the fashion of the era--as well as enjoying the fellowship of those who share an interest in this most fascinating time period. Yrs., uHf

I have loads of pictures from the Napoleon fashion exhibit and also some fashion plates. I cannot guarantee the year to will be limited to 1812, but note that if the hems get to wide and the waist starts to lower, you have gone further than 1818. Let me know if you would like me to post some for you.
And again, welcome!

I have been interested in the Regency Royal Navy for longer than I care to remember, and would be glad to give what assistance I can regarding things nautical.

Let me know if you would like me to post some for you. Are those pictures from the "Empire of Fashion" exhibit? I purchased the companion book and realized too late that I should have probably laminated it since the gowns are so incredibly droolworthy! If you have more pictures, by all means, please post them! I'm always happy to indulge in costume ogling! I am always glad to have more admirers of the Navy on our forum. I have been interested in the Regency Royal Navy for longer than I care to remember, and would be glad to give what assistance I can regarding things nautical. Kind sir, it delights me to no end to find a fellow enthusiast of The Senior Service! I was fortunate enough to be in Portsmouth with HMS Victory during the 200th anniversary of Trafalgar for a Horatio Hornblower convention and it was an experience like no other. I look forward to hearing more from you on all things naval! -uHf

The Empire of Fashion Exhibit is most certainly drool worthy. Though, if you have the book, then your pictures are probably better than mine. Those beautiful professional ones. I also have a lot of Fashion Plates from the era and am on the look out for more. s1136.photobucket.com/albums/n493/ladysarah2/?start=allThese are the Fashion Plates as well as some paintings and embroidery patterns and roller print patterns. I hope you can drool over these as well.

Definitely drooling! Thank you so much for posting the link. My husband just bought me 6 yards each of two different colors of silk for a ball gown I intend to make and I've been looking for inspiration. Your collection is just what I needed! Thanks again!
