I have to say, I was quite thrilled to stumble across this forum, as well as the other information on the society. I've been an avid fan of the Regency Era for so long, but I always thought I was alone in my obsession.
I actually found this place while searching online for a group of some sort here in San Jose, but alas, there were none. Which is why I am doubly glad to also find your guide on how to start a chapter here. That is something that I will most likely consider if I could possibly garner enough interest.
Just thought I would say a quick hello, though, and introduce myself to such wonderfully, like minded folks!

Greetings, and welcome to the forum!
My wife and I are local to San Jose, having recently moved from the peninsula. We are very serious about starting up a local chapter of some sort, as BAERS, the Regency group for the whole Bay Area, really only does dancing these days.
We're hoping to start small, with such things as card parties, picnics, etc. later this year, once we've moved into our new house.
The local costumer's organization, GBACG, is planning a Regency sail on the Lady Washington next February, which we plan to attend.
Please PM me if you want more details on any of these, or have any suggestions.
Regards,
-- Goblin, Esq.

Thank you for the welcome! I will get back to you for some more details. I would love to get involved locally. I am personally not much of a dancer really. I would attend balls, but dancing and I are not bosom buddies haha.

Welcome, Duchess (or should I say, Your Grace? ) It is always a delight to have new folks adding to the mix. I hope that you'll be able to find the opportunity to attend some Regency-themed events in the near future--your enthusiasm should not go to waste! Goblin, please do keep the rest of us informed of your progress on the San Jose area group. I have a friend in San Jose who visited during OpSail and was very jealous of the Regency goings-on here. I'm sure she would jump at the chance to participate with you! -uHf

Don't expect anything much before late August at the earliest, though - we have a house to move into and some repairs to do first.
