I am called Lyric and I am so pleased to have found this gracious forum.
As to all things Regency I am an excited neophyte. I have come to this site while researching Regency gown construction. You see, several months ago I decided to embark on a total wardrobe make-over to that of ladylike comfort and modesty from a rather secular wardrobe of pants, jeans and the like. I am of the notion that 18/19th century and 1950's women's garments shall suit my needs even with working on our land, feeding the goats, rabbits and gardening. Yes, skirts and dresses will be the order of the day as I go about this transformation.
I am still deciding weather I shall don stays or simply wear modern underpinnings. Either way I welcome the challenge of constructing a set of stays initially just to say that I did. We'll see where it goes from there. I read they are really comfortable and will do an amazing job of holding up my twins, ;D. I can't wait to find out. Needless to say, the journey and photographs will be forthcoming at www.FarmLady.com. Please, feel free to join me in this journey!
Thank you all in advance for your comraderie in this arena.

Welcome, Lyric! We're so glad to have you! Your plan to take "retro" to new heights sounds very ambitious and I'm looking forward to reading more about your journey in your blog. (Love the corded petticoat, by the way! I "got to" the Regency via Civil War reenacting. ) All the best and welcome aboard! -uHf

Welcome Lyric! I am teaching myself how to sew for the sole purpose of creating my own clothing as well. The clothing of modern times is so boring and masculine haha.

Welll Helloooo, Lady D: So good to read a kindred spirit in these things. Do you blog? Do share what you create. It is so uplifting and inspirational for folk like me. Admittedly, I am idea-challenged and you can bet anything I do that is attractive, cute, fanciful, or whatever - the idea came from somewhere else, ; and it is all good! So glad to read ya.

I don't have a blog actually, because I am still in the process of teaching myself sewing basics. And by that I mean learning to work the sewing machine without everything becoming a jumbled mess
