I often see people playing cards in the pictures of regency events. Are people generally playing regency card games like Loo and Whist, or are they playing poker or old maid. I don't actually play any card games so if cards are to be played I should like to participate.

They are usually playing whist; at least from what I understand... I'm sure they played other games; however we do whist in the ORS and our members provide whist lessons if we have the card-tables set up; so you will definitely be able to participate.

There is an excellent book online with the rules to various period (including the Regency) games on Walter Nelson's site: walternelson.com/gamester.pdfBesides whist and loo, the game that seems to come up in literature is faro.

Thanks for the link. What about Suspicion? That's a card game too right?
