At this time, the RSA's policy on moderation is usually limited to bad language, abusive language, trolling and spam. However as the board grows, we will focus on making sure it remains navigable for visitors. There's a lot of information here, and it's just getting more and more complex every day! We want to limit duplicate, triplicate threads, threads posted under the wrong subject matter, and threads that run way off-topic.
We do not want to over-moderate, like other communities do, which sometimes makes the participants feel patronized and reprimanded like children... we will try to keep the moderation limited so participants can feel free to chat to their heart's delight without worrying that their post will be deleted.
Just keep a close eye on the subject of the thread, and post in the most appropriate area as possible. If you can't find a board that fits, please let us know, we're always happy to help. General chat can be shared freely at the Personal chat board, and we have no worries about where the tangents go there.
But beware, don't get caught in the '15 most recent posts' trap. Often, by responding to posts directly from that list, you can lose track of the original subject!
These are the few things that we ask, and keeping these issues in mind as you browse and post, it will keep moderators out of your hair, and they will perform fewer deletions, move fewer things around, and mumble less about being off topic. ::hee hee::.
Thank you for participating, and please, never hesitate to PM the Admin (me) or moderator (Cosmo) if you have any issues, concerns or suggestions (or go to the "Tell Us" board and post there!)
Thanks!
Stephanie
