That is a very pretty print. I agree with steph that a golden brown would be pretty, but I also think a chocolate brown or an olive-y green would look quite lovely. Though I am just judging from the photo and I know that screen colors are rarely exactly accurate.

You all are reading my thoughts! I think a neutral color would cover a larger area of colors. I can't wait until I have time to start looking for the fabric. I wish I was able to start working on my gown now but things are still busy around here. I'm baking for a small tea party for visiting family today. Once everyone hears about my tea parties, they all want to come and bring their friends. It started out with four of us, now it's up to seven. But the small finger foods go a long way.

You should look at that Danish patterns site. They have a pattern for a cloak, plus a ton of Romantic style gowns too.

Where is there a pattern for a cloak? I totally must have over looked it. Can you post the link to the cloak?

Oh, oops. I just assumed there was a pattern there for that fringed cape. None there, just nice pictures.

I think cape/cloak patterns can be found just about anywhere. I believe the major commercial pattern companies have one and there are many online sources for them. Are you looking for a specific sort of cape? I took a look at the pictures.

I'm going to be making a cotton Romantic era dress, using TV 455, for our upcoming [naughty word]ens Fair in Riverside, CA on Feb 2 & 3. It can get pretty cold in the morning and evening, but is fairly warm in the daytime, hence the cotton dress. I'd like to make something to keep me warm in but really don't want to make a fitted pelisse. Would a cloak/cape be appropriate? Has anyone seen any pics to share? Or a pattern? Thanks, Val Ever since you posted this thread I am increasing more intrigued with romantic era costume. It is like a virus taking over my brain. What was once fussy and odd is now pretty to me. Weird.

It can be non-fussy too, depending on what year you do. I like the earlier dresses in Wives & Daughters, but not the big big poofy sleeves and pelerines. Also not the Apollo Knot hairstyles either. I just bought some maroon suitweight wool today for my cloak. One of our fabric stores *sad* is closing. So it was 50% off.
