About how many yards of fabric does the usual regency gown require? Say for example there was a fabric sale that was coming up and you were thinking about getting some yardage for your future projects that you hadn't done any work on yet or even quite sure what those projects are yet. Then how many yards would you buy? 4, 5, 6 more? Of course I know that it depends on what I was making but a general amount. How many yards have you used for each of your gowns so far? How much do your patterns recommend?

I usually get 5 yards, which is usually enough for a S&S pattern; however I might start getting an extra yard just so I can add some more volume to the skirts. BUT, I am a plus-sized girl, and you're teeny tiny, so you'll probably have more than enough with four yards.
The white cotton jaquard I got was a 5 yard remnant, and it was just enough for the outer dress; I had to line the entire thing with plain white cotton.
[edit: I would like to add that it didn't leave me much extra for gathering, and I really like a lot of volume]
