All of the gowns have these straight front pieces but on me they look insane. I have to gather.

Is this about the bib front bodice? You can control the gathers on that bodice almost any way you choose, you know. I know the book shows the gathers as gently even all the way across, both top and bottom of the bib, but there are hundreds of completely accurate different ways to make the bib. What about using the bodice front from dress C as your inspiration for the bib? Cutting two pieces on the bias with a small amount of gather room at the top and bottom and then plan for a centre front seam. The bias fabric stretches over the bust giving you more room and ultimately a smoother finish. By the way, Regency era fashion plates indicate an absolute obsession with a full bust. You're in the right era for this one! ;D
