Which would be more appropriate to wear to a public picnic? Walking dress, promenade dress, or half dress?

Gosh, Cosmo, I should think it would depend upon the formality of the occasion. I'm inclined to think casual = walking / day dress. Prominade dress would be for something more formal. I don't think half dress would be the thing unless it were a very fancy picnic.

This gown here is going to wear this gown I'm making now, which is most decidedly a simple print day-dress. It'll have to do, because it'll probably be warm and we'll be stomping about taking pictures and chasing children... Hey Cosmo... how about Pittock Mansion for the picnic? What say you? www.pittockmansion.org/I'm going to find out if it's okay if we attack en masse, and see if I can wrangle a group tour for the interior as well.. it's such a stunning site. My co-worker is a volunteer garden tour-guide there and she says it would be a great location to picnic (though we risk being among other tourists) and the garden is beautiful

I know, me too. But I've been there, it's pretty impressive.

I'm going to make myself a cap and a bonnet for that day too. And a summer frock-coat for my man

Paleeeeze... those are hardly major projects... the tailcoat, maybe, but the picnic going to be in July... I have plenty of time for Dan's stuff.
I want a real picnic basket for that day, and I'm going to get a croquet set too, I think.

No matter how much time I have, I never have plenty.

No matter how much time I have, I never have plenty. Ahh... yes. Having plenty of time... It's side effect of being childless. I always take it for granted.
