I beg your learned assistance in finding an accurate pattern for a ball dress c.1810. A little earlier or later is OK but 20's is too late. I have Hunnisett and Arnold as well as Costume in Detail, among others. I bought the Simplicity pattern on a lark a while back. I also have the Past Patterns front closing gown 96-06. I'm not wild about how the back goes together on that one. I can enlarge gridded patterns and drape toiles so I'm not afraid of work ( ) but I need to be pointed in the right direction. What are your suggestions? TIA

How on earth did I miss that thread?!!? Thank you for point it out. I shall go grab my copy of Hunnisett and dive in. Wish me luck.

I like the look of the new ones from Reconstructing History. Got them the other day really fast from Patterns of History. Cheers, Aylwen

I'll have to take a peek. I'm still dithering between white silk chiffon with a narrow satin stripe and a nice champagne silk taffeta. Sigh.
Thank you for the recommendation.
