I'm starting to work on my husband's outfit for the upcoming ball in April. I tell you, I'm scared to death. Any ideas for breeches and a frock coat? Thanks!

Are you looking for ideas for styles, pictures, inspiration, &c., or are you looking for specific pattern suggestions?

I used the Rocking Horse tail coat pattern for my husband's tailcoat. There was a certain amount of cussing involved but it eventually went together and he just loves it. He made his own waistcoat and I made made narrow fall trowsers. I can't remember if I used a pattern or instructions from a friend. If it was a pattern, it was most likely also Rocking Horse as was the waistcoat.

You have the RHF tailcoat pattern? Interesting. They've taken it from production to 'rework it' and it's one I've been very curious about. This is the one I may get for my husband to remake his frock-coat for the ball... I'll probably reuse my RHF waistcoat pattern for his new waistcoat, remake his breeches from the Eagle's View pattern I used last time with some modifications of course... the shirt I already have the pattern for (I'm going to remake it in a finer cotton with a nicer, crisper cravat) and buy him stockings from JAS Townsend. All these links are available here. www.oregonregencysociety.com/resources.htmI also recommend this pdf document made by a lady in Rochester NY as tools for her Regency events: www.rochestercontra.com/Men's2008.pdf

Thanks! I actually found a frock coat for hubby on ebay. I couldn't believe it was his size. So we got it. I'm also planning on making his shirt and waistcoat this weekend. :-)

Or maybe my concept of time has been distorted by being the mom of a toddler.

Cosmo,
Well, I have no human babies, just fur and feather babies. So I do have more time to sew. And I love it :-) I just pop in a movie, sit on the couch, and sew away. Although, my parrot tries to help by pulling out all of the pins and trying to pull the stitches out. It's jolly :-)
