What is the best paper for tracing patterns? I was desperate to get started on my shift and my stays so I went to Fabric Depot and picked up some Swedish tracing paper ( birchstreetclothing.com/group.php?itemID=9036&colID=28). I have never used it before. At school I used a tracing wheel and a pinboard table. Should I look for something else?

There are two different methods to "tracing": One is to go around the outside of a template like you did at school. The paper the tracing goes on is underneath the original. The other way to trace is to put transparent paper on top of the original and trace all markings by looking through the paper.
I prefer the second method. I purchase medical examining table paper by the roll (well by the case actually - works out to be about $4-$5/ roll) A roll is a LOT of paper. This is sturdier than traditional wrapping tissue or tracing paper, but is transparent for tracing.

You can purchase the paper through a pharmacy that specializes in home care products.

I've been known to use wax paper from the grocery store. It's transparent enough to trace through, pretty sturdy, and can be written on with a Sharpie. It's pretty narrow, though.
