Okay, so if a pattern says that there is a 1/4" seam allowance and a 1/8" offset where do you sew? 1/4" from the "higher" edge or the "lower" edge? I am confused.

I can't remember, Cosmo, are you using the Sense and Sensibility pattern or the Mantua Maker Pattern?
I'd rather not fuss with the offset bit when I sew and I usually ignore it. I trim the seam I want to be inside the felled seam and fold the other one over it.
However.... My guess at your directions: If you are machine sewing this seam and you're using the guide on the sewing machine plate, put your seams together and sew a 3/8 inch seam. Then fold the seam with the 1/8 offset (the 3/8 inch seam) over the 1/4 inch seam.

Thanks, Dawn. I am using the Kannick's Korner pattern. I guess that I'll have to try it and see. This is why I do mock ups a plenty.
