(Is dollhouse-ing a very expensive hobby? Someday I would love to make my own!)
Other than being obsessed with the Regency era, I like to sew, draw, design websites, knit, and I just started doing embroidery.

"Dollhousing" can be as expensive or cost-effective as you like, however as with most hobbies, the more proficient you get, the more refined you want your items to be. At least that's the pattern I've seen on the most part. Some people just build dollhouses for the fun of it, and are happy with regular things. But on the most part, people start off being content with inexpensive Aztec stuff; and making fat crocheted blankets & stuff... but then as time goes on, they start looking at Bespaq furniture and, real silver services and milled moldings & panels. It depends on how fastidious you are as a hobbyist. You can buy small or used houses and get materials for free or for cheap, and be inventive (wallpaper books, for instance... creative embroidery or cross-stitching for rugs...), or you can go the whole hog and spend lots of money on the nicest stuff you can find... I do a bit of both. I've slowed down a lot on it though. I'm thinking of selling the Beacon Hill.

Anything costume, or history related. I do love to sing. I also dabble in scrapbooking, a bit. And then there's my beloved blog, I enjoy keeping it up for family and friends. :-) The link is in my profile if anyone is curious. I know you, Allseeing, are a frequent visitor. :-P

Very pretty :-) I love the details :-) I used to imagine I could shrink and play in my doll house, as a kid. Our cockatiels would run through my doll house and play with the furniture. They would even "ride" on the back of my toy horses :-)

I have a few obsessions, er, hobbies. Besides loving to dress in different era costumes, and sometimes sewing them, I love the research part of it on the internet. At this point in my life, I seem to be obsessed with the internet. My favorite era is Victorian bustle & Natural Form. Love those big butts. I also love to go out to tearooms (not a hobby but a love), which could be part of the reason I'm on Jenny Craig right now. And that turned into a small business for me of catering English tea parties in people's homes or businesses. I collected old English teacups and teapots, and little silverplate demitasse spoons for the teacups. I love to write and at one time wrote a tea newsletter for my tea society. I still write articles about costuming events for our guild's newsletter. I enjoy reading very much, and have to have a stack of at least 10 books waiting for me, or I go thru withdrawls. I like mysteries, police procedurals, and sometimes horror stories. I'm reading an excellent book by Ivan Doig, The Whispering Season, right now. It's like going back to Little House on the Prairie, a wonderful story of three boys growing up. It's hard to put down. I used to cut and paint wood figures to sell but got tired of that after 18 years. Sold all my power tools and painting supplies too. At one time I was an avid quilter, and have a few unfinished ones that in my dottage I may pull out and start on again. Also did crossstitch at one time also. I also used to love shooting, off duty, and was on our department's pistol team at one time. I could shoot better than hubby. But have sold all my guns now, except that cute little 2" .38. I love anything I can do with my hands.

Although Regency is my latest obsession, there are lots of others that vie for my time. I love to garden (perennials). When I can find a chunk of time, I scrapbook (way behind on this one!). My newest dog recently passed his test as a registered therapy dog, so we visit nursing homes now. I started into bonsai about 2 years ago and have 6 trees in my collection. I've recently joined a contra dance and also and ECD group locally (great exercise, great fun!). My biggest time-draw is a glass and metal artwork business. I started in stained glass, then added metal work and it morphed into what I make now. I have about 5 gallery accounts and do juried art festivals. Here are some pics: If only my pesky day-job didn't get in the way of all of these...::sigh::.

Knitters are you on Ravelry? I love that Site. I am a very beginner knitter.
Tess - Those pieces are so pretty.
Aside from regency costuming I am a swing dancer. I do lindy hop and blues with a little balboa and collegiate shag. I am a beginner knitter and crocheter. I am a beginner digital scrapbooker. A beginner photographer (as in I started last week when my Hubby surprised me with a new DSLR). I collect vintage sewing patterns. Oh and I was a beginner surfer when I left LA and plan to take that up again. Does shopping count as a hobby?

I love babies...looking at them, holding them, just "hanging around" them! Everyone's work is so lovely - thank you for sharing!

Steph- Your dollhouse is fantabulous! I love the wooden staircase in the entrance and the tiny little birdhouse in the upstairs hall...and the carpeted stairs there...and the tiny little tea set. I wish, oh I wish I were a mouse!!!! A special kudos to all you who list historical costuming among your hobbies. I just finished my very first "real" sewing project, my chemise, and boy is sewing ever more work than I would have guessed. Not only do I have a new appreciation for those cheap Target clothes of mine, but my mind is boggled that you ladies (and gents) have made many and multiple beautiful items for reenacting. WAY TO GO ;D Lauren-I love the pic of your bird baby sewing. I had never thought of birds as having "personality", but yours look so friendly and charming. I might have to consider a fine feathered friend down the road Miss Ida- Your candles are lovely. Are they very time consuming? My husbands mom gave us some candle making supplies from when she made them long ago, but we haven't had the nerve to get it all out and get into it yet.

I might have to consider a fine feathered friend down the road Birds are loaded with personality. They're a lot of fun, but a lot of work. It's kind of like having a two year old for, well, the life of the bird. In my case, he's only a year old and he should live at least 25 years :-P He's a blast, but he can be a little stinker at times. :-)

Well I know Im a bit behind on this thread but besides my reenacting and sewing I enjoy things like cooking, experimenting with recipes and new ingredients. Im actually the new assigned camp cook for my reenacting group. I also spend a lot of time dog training and working with kids as a 4-H advisor.

Theatrical tech (sets and costuming), sewing, bicycling, glass blowing (not since highschool, since I haven't had access to a hot shop since then), college, sewing, and reading science fiction and fantasy. Also sewing.
