This LJ post: community.livejournal.com/oldsewing/13616.html has a whole lot of construction photos from my shift and petticoat. Photos from the dress to follow. There isn't much text in that post, since it was done after the fact, but there are several from earlier that are photo-free but text-heavy about the process. The tags are "u: bodiced petticoat" and "u: regency shift." The whole thing was handsewn. Things I'll change in the next petticoat iteration: - make the back much wider and somewhat lower - make the skirt much wider (60" is not quite enough) - possibly add boning or cording to the front

I can't wait to see photos of the gown. The petticoat is awesome! You were very inventive.

Widening the petticoat's neckline is probably a good idea. It barely showed under your gown, but it definitely will allow you to be more flexible when making other gowns with less modest necklines as your first. I think for a last-minute project where you pretty much sewed the whole thing on site at the party, you did a nice job, and looked very cute. Steph

I've drafted version 2.0 and I think I'll sew up the bodice today or tomorrow. It'll have a more horizontal neckline and a much, much lower and wider back. We'll see how that fits and then I'll start working on a day dress for the Arboretum walk.
