SO seeing as that i'm always strapped for cash, I was wondering if synthetics or blends would be ok to use? I don't mean those horrible plastic looking satins or the really bad fake silks, but fabrics that pretty much read silk or wool... that look like the real thing but aren't. What are your thoughts on this, and does anyone have suggestions on cheap fabrics that look fancy?

I, personally, don't have too much of a problem with it. As long as it looks right and behaves like the fabric it's supposed to mimic (and there are some really good fakes out there), then whatever. It's your dress, your money, and your time. Do what makes you happy.

Well real silk would make me happy, but not my wallet!

Yeah, if it's a good mimic, go for it. No reason not to.

I think I will go buy that shawl i really like it. I spent hours looking at portraits last night, and even tough i didn't come across a blue shawl i did see just about any other color.
