I know I haven't been around much, I've been project-girl and loafing girl; and ORS girl (or Lady I suppose)... Where have you all been? Busy? Updates please... Who's working on something? Tell us a story? We surely haven't run out of things to talk about. I'm looking forward to Sunday's Emma, it's the one existing adaptation I havent' seen yet. Yay!

I've missed you! I seem to have run out of questions and such to post. I am in shock. I am deciding on which bodice pattern I am going to use for my day dress and if I am going to use a solid white or one with a woven pattern.
I am totally looking forward to Emma. I've never seen it either.

My apologies for not being around. I've been very busy making arrangements for the Ball, polishing silver, making decorations, packing things to take there, etc. I've also been shopping for new dancing shoes, I'm looking for a pair with a mind toward period looking. So I've been fairly busy lately, but I'll be checking in.
Cheers,

Go to your local dance shop; those men's lace-up soft-leather dance shoes are very appropriate.

We've had two family members of friends die in the last week, so have been a little busy with them. And doing a little Spring cleaning in my sewing room and the garage. OK, it's still Winter, but it was 80d here in So. CA the last couple days. I just learned how to do blind hemming on my sewing machine, from my class last week, and did the hem on both the skirt and pleated portion on my 1878 Natural Form gown. It's a black silk dupioni. The polannaise is a two toned black striped upholstery materil. I've mentioned this before, as I'm making a "best black"dress, which also can be used for a mourning dress. It started out as a bustle dress, then morphed into a poopfed/draped skirt. I also learned how to do knife pleats using a fork, via Truly Victorian's online video. So nice and so quick. I'm so thrilled, having learned two new things this week, and both worked! Whoo hoo!! On the Regency front, I finally found a fabric to make my underdress to go with a two toned plum striped fabric that will be the pelisse with the band that goes under the bustline. I couldn't find a solid plum for the dress, as it was a off color plum, and while at JoAnn's this morning I saw a champange colored poly-dupioni. They looked nice together, and I got it for half price with my coupon. So if I'm still unable to find a plum to use, this will work well, and will make a gorgous Regency dress by itself. And that's been my week in a nutshell. Hmm, I just decided I know of someone who might be interested in this group here also. She's in a costume guild in Seattle, called SITU, and is all over the web right now looking for fellow costume nutters. Her name is Rita, if she stops by.

I've been too busy at work, and at home the tot has suddenly become a lot more mobile, which is why I've been quiet lately. I just finished a book, Feeding Nelson's Navy: The True Story of Food at Sea in the Georgian Era, which I intend to write a review for, but I'm not sure it falls under Regency Cooking or the Napoleonic Wars.

Ok, I have to nix the champange dupioni with the plum striped fabric. My neighbor just came over and looked at it, and she didn't care for the combination. She thinks a plum or grey would look better, so I'm back to the hunt.

My girls have been more demanding than usual and family from AZ are coming tonight, so I have been trying to keep the house clean and work out some fun things to do while they are here. Also remember that party I was making a dress for? Well, I don't remember if I said, but it was postponed and it's this weekend...still not ready. I also am the only family member that lives near my grandparents. Grandpa's bedridden, so I help out a lot. I'm just really busy, but I do love to get on here when I can and read the posts, hopefully things slow down. It makes me tired.
