Hi there I am searching for a really "wow" 1812 gown to copy - it needs to look good, present a challenge and be suitable for a 38 year old to wear. Any ideas? Many thanks, Aylwen

This dress looks really nice made up. The back is really pretty, especially if you use a striped fabric and piece the back. I've only ever seen the dress made up twice, not many people use this pattern for some reason. One word of warning, the pleats are a little weird in the back, there are 2 on one side and 3 on the other, not sure if that is a pattern flaw or if that's how the extant dress that the pattern is based off of was.

I've used that pattern a couple of times, and figured the uneven pleating on each side is based on the original. I replicated that aspect and nobody would even notice, not even me. I'm not sure that it's as "wow" as Aylwen is looking for, seeing a dress she'd love to replicate has slatherings of cornelli ornamentation. I really like this fashion plate, but don't suit yellow colours Though that wouldn't stop me from making it in another fabric, I found a pink evening gown i'm going to make instead dbase1.lapl.org/images/casey/full/01/rbc0408.jpg
