Good afternoon, everyone, My name is Natalie and I live in Lexington, KY, and am mother to twin three-year-old boys. I work part-time and have been costuming for, golly, perhaps six years now, and have focused on the Regency era for the last 18 months or so. A long-time member of the Sense and Sensibility board, I know some of you by name and some by face (waves to Oriane and Dawn and Bennetgirl, among others). With Oriane I'm a co-founder of the Bluegrass Regency Society, which has just joined the RSA (which I also understand will have a new name?), and am the "leader" of the little Jane Austen Sewing Society. Researching the history of the Regency era, especially its fashion, architecture, decorative arts, and its history, especially for the late 1790s, is a happy hobby, and my poor garden is half cared for whilst I squint at the needle and make some garments that work, and some that, well, don't work as well. Never afraid to experiment :} Looking forward to being here, and very best, Natalie Blog: A Frolic Through Time: zipzipinkspot.blogspot.com

Welcome, and what was what it that decided you to focus on the Regency?

I have never been much of an art person, I'm a bit too technical minded I think. But I do agree with you on the architecture of this period. Especially the transitions going on, Elizabethan / Colonial to the Greek Revival / Federalist. I'm not much of a Victorian architecture fan, but it has some redeeming qualities as well.
Welcome to our forum. I'm sure you will enjoy, we all do.

Thank you, all!
The fast transitions in architecture during the 19th century fascinate me, too. So much going on, so much mixing and blending, so much symbolism and use of ideals in architecture to evoke an ethos!
Very best,
natalie
