My remodel from hades is making my house cold and dusty. I do not want to put my fabrics on the icky floor at the moment, which is what I would have to do since my sewing room is on the floor being remodeled... So how do you satiate your sewing urges when you don't have the space, or ingredients, to sew Boo for no sewing

I do not want to put my fabrics on the icky floor at the moment, which is what I would have to do since my sewing room is on the floor being remodeled... I don't put my fabric on the floor anymore, just because it's too hard on my knees and back. I put it on our bed, with one of the cardboard cutting boards. Or I put it on the dining table with same. Maybe you can try that.

As the Queen of making it work in small spaces (trust me my house is a matchbox); our round dining room table with the leaf (which makes it a nice long oblong) is all it takes for me (although I dream of a large workroom with a gridded cutting table the size of a parking lot) :::swoooon::::
I do manage, even with cutting big pieces. I can't kneel either, and if i put stuff on teh floor, I'm bound to have furry visitors stomping all over it with their ruddy paws and snuffling about everything in curiosity, and likely carrying stuff away if they have the chance.
My sister has this huge colonial sprawling farmhouse in upstate New York, she's like Martha Stewart, it's disgusting. She has a basement with a whole quarter of the space (and this is big) designated to fabric crafts. She's got this work table (double rectangles put side by side and then covered in a nice countertop material... then an L-shaped cabinet-desk with one leg for her serger and the other for her sewing machine; and four shelf units against the wall with TOTES upon TOTES of fabric and supplies; spool racks on one wall, it's a sewer's dream space...
And the most horrible thing about it... SHE NEVER USES IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGG GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
My whole living room and dining room space could probably fit in that sewing section. Bwaaah!!! Waaah! Boo hoo hoo!

1) Wait until Tot has been put to bed. 2) Clean off kitchen table, especially the parts where Tot has smeared applesauce during dinner. 3) Wait to make sure this isn't one of the nights when Tot won't go to sleep until 11:00pm. 4) Put cardboard cutting mat on table, unfolded as far as possible/necessary. 5) Cut. Sew.
Alternately, if a larger cutting surface is needed, I sweep the most open space of the living room floor, unfold the cutting mat on the floor, and use that.
This gives me usually about 60 minutes (maybe 90 minutes if I push it) sewing time. Always assuming Tot doesn't refuse to sleep until 11:00pm.

Thanks for all the support It is the dirt I cannot stand... Perhaps later today I will take photos of what they are doing to my ground floor. I was just told yesterday that there is a 3100.00 expense we weren't planning on... I won't even go into how much it is to redo a foundation but bah... and it is interfering with my creative side. Makes me sad and blue.
