I'm here and feeling that 'post-regency-event' glow that carries me through the day. Yay.
The tea was wonderful!. I wore my costume all the way there (5 hours in stays can be trying to say the least, especially when driving). I wore my cap in the car, and drew some attention from other drivers.
I met Tara at her house and we drove to Sherwood together. We were there early, and met some other attendees that were there early, so we all took a stroll around the town in our getups. Then we all went to enjoy tea; it was a wonderful crowd, and the tea was fanstastic; what an adorable space.
I wore no petticoat (shocking!) my bloomers, shift, stays and my riding paddock boots, which really worked very nicely. I wore my jolly green gown with a fishu of patterned voile, my cap and bonnet. Tara wore a white gown with black print, a lovely hat with feathers, and little lace glovelets.
She took pictures and promised them by Tomorrow, so I will surely post the link to my flickr account as soon as I have them.
We had four little girls in attendance, Miss Brontë Sniff was there, and her mummy had made her a brand new gown and spencer. CUTE!!!!!!
All in all it was so lovely, we saw new faces and familiar ones. Yay.
Teas are so easy to do, I recommend you do that as a group event. It's a 'set it and forget it' sort of activity; you don't pay for venue space, you charge per person, and just show up; no cleaning no fussing; and if you want to raise funds, hold a raffle.
Fun!
