Because I am now thoroughly grumpified by the sight of my massive behind in a picture, I must find things that cheer me up. And this is one thing that will. Ahhh. I feel better. Nothing like Flower & Simons' Baby pictures to make me feel better.

I tell my husband that it's lucky puppies grow up because if they stayed tiny and pink-bellied and oatmeal-breathy, that we'd be knee-deep in them.

Okay, after having a sick-with-a-cold yucky morning, I decided to try your cure-all. It definitely made me feel better. Here is my Luna (aka Lunabelle, Lunatic) And Banjo (our adopted "other child" who we have no puppy pics of... We sure love them...sigh.

Our house is heated by a small propane stove; which has a nice glass front and ceramic "logs", so there's always a pleasant sight of flames when it clicks on. It radiates a lot of heat. The ottoman is in front of it, the sofa sits to its right against the wall, the television to its left in the corner. It's our favourite spot; in winter, you can sit on the sofa with your feet on the ottoman, watching TV, and the thermostat will click, and the fire will pop into existence.
If there are dogs on your lap during this time, the sound of the thermostat clicking and the fire whooshing will rouse them from your lap, adn they will jump down to the floor, leaving a cooling void where they were poured into your lap; and lay out in front of the stove to sear like little roasts. When the thermostat clicks again, and the fire extinguishes, two toasty little dogs will reappear on your lap and await the next click.
Dan and I joke that if they could devise some sort of rotisserie that the dogs could use that would spread the warmth evenly along their little bodies, we'd be obligated to get it for them.
Flower spends most of the day by that fireplace. The spot between the ottoman and the stove is always full of toys and other debris brought there so while they're enjoying other fun activities like eviscerating squeaky toys, they can be comfortably warm.

Cute dogs. My little dog always steals my spot on the bed when I get up. It's amazing how 14 lbs can take up an entire bed :-)

Ms. Ida,
What a sweet kitty to look up at you lovingly and not be tempted to play with all that pink ribbon!
Maybe wealthy Regency cats would have worn something similar!

Nothing like fur babies to warm up a stressfull day. I love coming home to wet noses, slobber, and love. Then there's birdy boy, he's a handful and a half. But I love them all dearly, they're my kids. <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/LEMarks/UntitledAlbum/photo#5184808671828845010"><img src="http://lh6.google.com/LEMarks/R_QkBEi5IdI/AAAAAAAAAx0/0uIp2BcU6lY/s400/IMG_0009.JPG.jpg" /></a>[/img]

This is how I know I'm in good company, because animal people RULE. Birds are so bratty, it's like having a permanent 2-year-old in your house. Tee hee! And yes, a 14 lb animal can take up as much room in your bed as a full-grown man. We find ourselves crushed into corners sometimes while our small shorty-jack russels are sprawled out quite comfortably in the center. Flower has the audacity to growl if I move during the night and disturb her comfort.

Ooh......like the "Trouble with Tribbles" on the original Star Trek! Totally, except they'd have tiny needle teeth and would totter around biting your ankles with them.

Lol....yes, I was PARTICULARLY admiring your pup's pink belly, and just wanting to bury my face in it! Everyone's pets look lovely! We have 10 indoor ones ourselves (a range of species, including canine, feline, reptile, and rodent!), and they are a lot of work, but so fun and rewarding.

Ms. Ida, What a sweet kitty to look up at you lovingly and not be tempted to play with all that pink ribbon! Maybe wealthy Regency cats would have worn something similar! he is such a sweet tempered cat, I cannot still believe somebody would just throw him out like yesterday's trash. he is a rescue you could say, he just sat infront of our door one day scratching and whining. he was very cold and very hungry, his previous owner got tiered of him and dumped him out here in the country

I worked as manager at a vet clinic for several years, and abandoned cats were a constant issue. In spring, we'd find boxes of emaciated, flea-bitten, anemic kittens left by our door all the time. People are stupid and irresponsible when it comes to obtaining pets and understanding what care and investment is required. Thank God for people like you, Ida. Speaking of visiting animals, we have ducks that come every spring to our offices; and there is a pair outside my window right now eating the food we bought for them. They'll be back in a few weeks with baby duckies. None of them survive, unfortunately. It's really sad to see every day, mom arrive with a smaller number of babies.
