My Maximus reinjured his leg yesterday :-( I'm really worried about him and am taking him to the doctor tomorrow at 11. I'm just a nervous nelly and I hate seeing my babies in pain. So I'm having my "I'm worried" pity party. It was so sad last night, he won't put any weight on his back leg, but he still wanted to follow me around the house. When I woke up this morning he was in his usuall spot next my side of the bed. I don't know how he managed to hobble up the stairs, but he did. I about cried. :-( Anywhoo, enough of my pity, poor puppy, party. I'll update you after the appointment tomorrow.

Oh, poor baby. I hope he'll be OK. It's amazing how much we worry about our furkids. It would be so much less stressful for them and for us if they could just tell us what is wrong or where it hurts or how much.

It always heartens me to see good pet owners.
I got a bit burnt out by people when I managed the vet clinic. People would just abandon injured pets, and neighbors or strangers would bring them in and sometimes even pay for their care... Or people would complain about the most basic vaccinations, or refuse them, and then come crying with a limp, skinny puppy because it got distemper or some other disease, and then cry at the bill. We'd get people bringing in anemic kittens seething with fleas, and refuse the $9 flea treatment and then the kitten would die a day or so later and they'd blame us. That happened a lot.
That's why vet clinics have so many three-legged, two-legged, wonky-tailed, messed-up clinic pets. Once they donate that care and love, they just can't let them go.
I'd sell my car if Flower or Simon needed emergency surgery. I love those dogs like crazy. (I suppose the darned cat too... ::::SIGH:::::

Thanks everone for the kinds thoughts :-) @steph: I couldn't imagine working in a vet's office. I love animals, but I would end up taking all of them home. I'll update everyone as soon as I have some news :-) God Bless.
P.S. It's sure nice to have a place to have my pity party :-)

Surprisingly, we have 2 vets in town who only make housecalls. It's wonderful for skitterish pets who don't like the car or injured babies you don't want to move.
About a year before our previous kitty left us 2 months shy of her 22nd b'day, we had to take her to the vet for a bladder infection. I don't know what happened while they had her but she came out like a wild raccoon. We couldn't touch her once she got home and she yowled for hours before she calmed down. One of the visiting vets came to the house to help her on her way after a stroke and he's been seeing our new kitty ever since. It's the best!

Moose Dog update...
So here's the scoop. Maximus has a torn cruciary ligament in his knee. He needs surgery. So, we have to wait untill the funds become available, probably Sept. The good news is he will most likely regain full usage of his leg after recovery. Now we wait untill hubby gets his next school stipened. September can't come quickly enough.

Wow, that's not cheap surgery. I'm sure they gave you some Rimadyl or other pain medication to tide the guy over? Poor schmoopie!

Steph,
NO it's certainly not cheap surgery. But, he's such a young dog that I want to do it. Plus one of the perks of Dental School, is hubby gets a stipend at the beginning of each term. So we will be using that to pay for it. I'm still very sad for moose dog, but I'm glad to know it can be fixed.
